The 'Great Timer' not only functions as an accurate speech timer, it also controls and displays the three colored timing lights at the proper times. In the past, Timekeepers have had to use a stopwatch and manual Lamps or a Colored Card system. Contestants and Contest Masters have had to rely on the Timekeeper's accuracy. This works great until the person doing the timing gets absorbed in the content of the speech and forgets to signal the contestant at the proper time. Anybody who has had the job of Timekeeper more than a couple of times has likely done this, especially when it’s a Great Speaker. Who hasn't been distracted by a great speaker? Now the Timekeeper can also enjoy the speech along with everyone else. Simply press Start when the Speaker begins and Stop at the end of the speech. Everything else is automatic.

• Fully Automatic Lamp Control
  Once you press ‘Start’ the clock maintains all timing and lamp control functions. At the end of the speech, the clock operator simply presses stop and records the time.
• Accurate Crystal Timing
  Our ‘Great Timer‘ clock uses a calibrated crystal as the time base. This is the most accurate method of timing available and is the base for ALL of our timer models from the lowest cost, to the most feature filled. All of our timers use the same, accurate timing technology.
• Affordable Pricing
  One of the overriding concerns during design was to maximize usability while keeping the cost as low as possible. Our goal was to have the lowest cost, fully automatic contest timer available on the market.
• 35 preset timing programs available
  There are 35 preset timing programs available that provide for virtually any contest timing need. The operator simply has to set the selected speech time and the associated Green, Yellow, and Red lamp On/Off times are set appropriately for the speech.
• Combination Timing clock and Automatic Lamp Control
  The 'Great Timer' not only functions as an accurate speech timer. It also controls and displays the Timing Lamp indicators at the proper times. In the past, timers have used a stopwatch and manual Lamps or Colored Cards to signal the speakers progress. Now Everything is automatic.
• Easy Lamp Test – Lamp Display Function
  You can easily test the three signaling lamps prior to using the ‘Great Timer’ for speeches or for contest timing. Many contests have a requirement that the Chief Judge show contestants an example of the illuminated lamps. This is now easily accomplished by the clock operator with a single button press.
• Available Lamp Options
  We have two options available for the Red, Yellow, Green timing indicator lamps. We have a mode with the traditional tungsten filament lamp or the newer LED based lamps. The LED lamps have a much longer life and, in the long run, make for a better investment. Both versions have our accurate automatic timing system at the core.
• Safe Timing
  While timing a speech, only the STOP button remains active. All other buttons on the Timer will not respond until the STOP button is pressed. This helps minimize accidentally resetting or restarting the time clock while timing a speech. (another simple but great idea from our design review team)
• Carrying Case
  We offer a protective metal storage / travel case for the ‘Great Timer’.
• Available Backlit Display for Clock Operator
  There are two versions available. One with a lighted LCD display and the other without backlighting (future). We HIGHLY recommend the backlit display as this is one of the most requested features from out design review by actual clock operators. All too often our users found themselves in rooms with less than optimal lighting.
